Everyday help, without the rush

Light home help with a friendly touch.

From laundry and tidying to washing up, changing ordinary bed linen and keeping things organised, practical tasks can be completed while there is still time for conversation and company.

The aim is not to turn a visit into a cleaning shift. The human connection remains part of the service.

Who we help

Support that feels like family.

Our service has been designed particularly around the needs, comfort and preferences of women living at home who can manage their own personal care but would benefit from regular company, reassurance and useful everyday help.

Why families choose Sisterhood

  • Familiar faces and consistent relationships
  • Longer, unhurried visits
  • English, Punjabi and Potwari
  • Cultural understanding and respectful support
  • Private, discreet and confidential support
  • Short family reassurance updates where authorised

A service built from real family experience

Experienced, local and personally involved.

Sisterhood is led by a Bradford mother of four who has spent many years supporting older people in both family and care settings. Before getting married, she worked in a care home. Over the years she has supported her own grandparents as they aged and was also closely involved in supporting her husband’s grandmother through the final years of her life, while raising four children.

That experience shaped the Sisterhood approach: patience, respect, familiar faces and practical help that supports independence rather than taking it away.

A familiar person, not a revolving door

  • The lead companion personally meets new families.
  • Regular visits stay with the same familiar companion wherever possible.
  • If cover is ever needed, it is discussed with the family rather than sending an unfamiliar person without warning.
  • Companionship, home help and cooking stay within clear service boundaries.

Your family. Your choice.

Private and discreet support.

Using Sisterhood is a private personal or family choice. We do not announce who uses the service or share personal information with neighbours, friends or the wider community.

Dignity without judgement

Many families simply want their loved one to have more company and practical support during the week, while keeping family time focused on being together.

Information is only shared with people the client has authorised, except where we must act for safety or legal reasons.

Available separately

Cooking Companion Visit

Fresh meals prepared in the client’s own kitchen, including halal and traditional dishes where requested. The menu and likely portions are agreed before the visit.

More than time at the cooker

  • Cooking takes place in the client’s own home.
  • While food is simmering, baking or cooking, the companion can sit and chat, prepare ingredients at the dining table, fold laundry or complete other agreed light home-help tasks.
  • Ingredients can be supplied by the family or purchased during booked time and charged at exact receipt cost.
  • We do not promise a fixed number of dishes — what can reasonably be prepared depends on the agreed menu.

A clear service boundary

Sisterhood provides companionship and light home help, with a Cooking Companion Visit available separately where agreed. Sisterhood does not provide personal care such as washing, dressing or toileting, and we do not administer or manage medication. We also do not provide physical feeding, lifting or transfers, nursing, overnight care, deep cleaning, client transport or financial management.

Start with a conversation

Whether you are enquiring for yourself, your mum, grandmother, aunt, sister or someone else close to you, we will first understand what kind of companionship or practical support may be useful.
