Service information

Terms of Service

These Terms of Service explain the general basis on which The Sisterhood Home Companions provides its services in Bradford, West Yorkshire. This website is not an online booking platform, and submitting an enquiry does not by itself create a service agreement. The agreed service, schedule, price and practical arrangements are confirmed with the contracting party or payer before service begins.

Who the service is designed around

Sisterhood is a female companion service designed particularly around the needs, comfort and preferences of women living at home. All Sisterhood companions are female. Each enquiry is considered individually for suitability, safety, the requested tasks and Sisterhood’s available capacity.

The client, contracting party and payer

A family member may arrange or pay for Sisterhood, but the wishes, dignity and privacy of the person receiving the service remain central. The client, contracting party, payer and person authorised to receive updates may be different people. Family updates are only provided where appropriate permission or authority has been agreed.

Service boundary

Sisterhood provides companionship and light home help, with Cooking Companion Visits available separately. Sisterhood does not provide personal care such as washing, dressing or toileting, and we do not administer or manage medication. We also do not provide physical feeding, lifting or transfers, nursing, overnight care, deep cleaning, client transport or financial management.

Pricing and payment

The website shows Sisterhood's standard pricing structure and payment approach. Regular-plan discounts start from 3 committed hours per week; regular bookings below 3 hours per week use the standard £27.50 hourly rate. There are currently no online card payments or payment-gateway transactions on this website. The agreed service, schedule, rate, invoice timing and payment method are confirmed before service begins. See Payments & Cancellations for the current customer-facing explanation.

Cancellations and no access

Regular visits reserve diary capacity. Our cancellation approach is:

  • 48+ hours' notice: no cancellation charge.
  • 24–48 hours' notice: up to 50% of the booked service charge where the reserved time cannot reasonably be reallocated.
  • Less than 24 hours' notice: up to 50% of the booked service charge.
  • No access / nobody available when the companion attends: up to the value of the two-hour minimum booking may be charged where the visit cannot take place.
  • Hospital admission or genuine emergency: handled reasonably on a case-by-case basis, and any cancellation charge is normally waived where appropriate.
  • If Sisterhood cancels: there is no charge, and any payment already made for that visit will be refunded or credited.

Cancellation charges are intended to reflect reserved time and are not described as penalties.

Monthly rolling regular services

Regular services operate on a simple monthly rolling basis rather than long fixed-term contracts. The standard notice period to end a regular service is 14 days. This notice arrangement does not remove or reduce any statutory consumer cancellation rights that apply.

Statutory cancellation period

Where a service agreement is made online, by telephone or in the client's home, consumers may have a 14-day statutory cancellation period. If a customer asks Sisterhood to begin providing services during the applicable cancellation period, Sisterhood will obtain their express request to start early. If they subsequently cancel, they may be required to pay for services already supplied in accordance with their statutory rights.

Reasonable care and skill

Sisterhood will provide agreed services with reasonable care and skill and will work within the service scope, safety procedures and arrangements agreed with the client or contracting party.

Consumer rights and liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any statutory consumer right or any responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. If something goes wrong, please contact Sisterhood promptly so the issue can be considered and handled fairly.

Changes in needs or suitability

Sisterhood may pause, change or end a service where needs move outside the agreed service boundary or the service can no longer be delivered safely. Where appropriate, the family will be encouraged to seek support that better matches the person's needs.

Website information

We aim to keep website information accurate and current, but service availability, prices and operating details may change. Any material arrangement for a client is confirmed directly before service begins.
